Photolovers organised its 5th Circuit of 2008 with 3 independent judgings, and 5 sections in which slides and digital images were received. These 5 sections were 1. Coloured Projected Images 2. Coloured Projected Images – Theme- Land/Water Scapes 3. Nature Section 4. Wild life Section and 5. Photo Travel Section. We did not keep photo journalism section as the nature of entries which were being received in this section were mostly repeatitions and new work was not being given. The total number of entries in the PJ Section also was comparatively less. Therefore, we decided to have 2 separate sections of Nature and Wild Life in which excellent images were received for the circuit.
We received a total of 3687 images from 298 entrants of 35 Countries including India. Most of these images were received in the form of digital images and gradually the number of slide entries are reducing.
We also received entries by e-mail as well as in the form of CD. Photolovers also accepts entry fee payment through PayPal and it has become very convenient for the entrants to send their images by e-mail and pay fees through PayPal. Some entrants still continue to send entry fees in cash form which is strictly prohibited as per Indian rules and all such cash currency which is sent by the entrants in their entry packets is invariably confiscated by customs and we do not get such entry fees. We therefore, repeatedly request our entrants not to send any cash fees and either pay through PayPal which is the most convenient way and if this is not possible then send the entry fees through Bank Drafts or through Cheques though, heavy charges are to be borne for these by the entrants and also by us.
The acceptance rate for the 5th Photolovers Circuit was a minimum of 30.0% in Theme section and was maximum of 39.6% in Nature section for the entire Circuit. The acceptance rate in all the 5 sections was much higher than the minimum prescribed rate of 25%.
Photolovers again published an excellent A-4 size catalogue with hard cover binding. This coffee book catalogue is a collector's item which contained a total of 249 images with many full page and half page reproductions. We pay maximum importance of the quality of the catalogue and we used a much better Art paper for this 2008 catalogue which has been very widely appreciated by the entrants and photographic societies throughout the World. Without charging anything extra and without promising so in our rules and regulations, we sent the catalogues to all the entrants by Air Mail only which was very expensive for us but we wanted the entrants to get this beautiful book in their hands as early as possible. As before, we sent specially made, individually printed Certificates of Merits for all the Awards also, to each of the winners of 2008 and the circuit was a grand success.
The FIAP has also awarded highest rating of 5 Stars to this 2008 Catalogue and it is the only Indian catalogue which has been granted a 5 Star rating by the FIAP and we assure our entrants to improve the quality of our catalogue even further
